Abstract
This study aims to assess the effectiveness of cross-country program in improving physical fitness of Physical Education, Health, and Recreation (PJKR) Study Program students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Sukabumi (UMMI) as part of efforts to support the vision of Indonesia Emas 2045. The research method used was Systematic Literature Review (SLR), which identified, assessed, and synthesized seven relevant research articles from national and international databases, published in 2018-2024, that discussed cross country training, VO2Max, and physical fitness in the student age group. The results showed that the cross-country program was effective in improving aerobic capacity (VO2Max), cardiovascular endurance, and supporting the formation of a healthy lifestyle. In addition to physiological benefits, the program also plays an important role in fitness education, positive social identity formation, and strengthening sports culture among students. This study recommends that higher education institutions design cross-country programs in a systematic, measurable, and sustainable manner, so as to contribute to strengthening the quality of human resources towards the Golden Indonesia 2045.
