Plagiarism Check

Plagiarism Check

KOLASE: Jurnal Pendidikan Bahasa, Sastra, dan Budaya is committed to maintaining the originality, integrity, and academic ethics of every article it publishes. All submitted manuscripts undergo a similarity check to identify any similarities with previously published works.

The similarity check is conducted using Turnitin before the manuscript proceeds to the peer review stage. This check aims to detect textual similarities with other sources, including journal articles, books, conference proceedings, scholarly works, and other academic sources.

Similarity Check Policy

All submitted manuscripts will be checked by the journal editors or editorial staff. The similarity report is used as one of the considerations in determining whether a manuscript is eligible to proceed to the review process.

KOLASE applies the following similarity thresholds:

  • Similarity below 20%: The manuscript may proceed to the review process after further examination by the editor.

  • Similarity between 20–30%: The manuscript will be returned to the author for review and revision of sections with a high level of similarity.

  • Similarity above 30%: The manuscript may be rejected or returned to the author for revision at the editor's discretion.

The similarity percentage is not the sole basis for determining plagiarism. Editors will examine the sources and specific sections identified in the similarity report to distinguish between properly cited quotations, common terms, reference lists, and similarities that may indicate plagiarism.

Author Responsibilities

Authors are responsible for ensuring that the manuscripts they submit are original works and free from plagiarism. Any ideas, statements, data, or portions of works belonging to others that are used in the article must be properly acknowledged and cited in accordance with academic writing standards.

Authors must also ensure that the manuscript is not under consideration for publication or has not previously been published in another journal or scholarly publication.

Actions Against Plagiarism

If an indication of plagiarism is identified during the editorial process, peer review, or after an article has been published, KOLASE will conduct a further investigation based on the available evidence.

If plagiarism is proven, the editor may take appropriate action depending on the severity of the violation, including requesting revisions, rejecting the manuscript, withdrawing the manuscript from the publication process, or carrying out a retraction of an article that has already been published.

KOLASE is committed to conducting the plagiarism screening process objectively and responsibly in order to maintain the quality and integrity of its scholarly publications.
